Hanyang University

Why Chose Hanyang University?

Hanyang University, founded in 1939 as the Dong-A Engineering Institute and later expanded into a private research university, has earned its reputation as Korea’s “Engine of Innovation.” With dual campuses in Seoul (the original academic hub) and in Ansan (the ERICA campus focused on industry-academia collaboration) Hanyang now has grown into one of South Korea’s elite STEM universities over the decades. Hanyang maintains academic partnerships with 700–820 universities across 70–88 countries, showcasing that strategic global reach defines Hanyang’s character. Its ERICA location, built as an Education–Research– Industry Cluster, houses technoparks and incubators that enable students to engage directly with industry-leading firms like Samsung and Hyundai.

The university offers over 15 colleges and 60 undergraduate departments (Seoul), and 8 faculties in ERICA covering fields such as engineering, computing, design, business, and sports, alongside 21 graduate schools across disciplines from medicine and public policy to media and education. Consistently ranked within the top 160–250 globally (QS, THE), Hanyang stands out for its top-tier engineering programmes, intensive research output, and entrepreneurial ecosystem embedded in both campuses. It continues to shape Korea’s future through a tradition of practical learning and academic excellence.
