The Academy of Physical Education and Mass Sports (APEMS), founded in 2021 in Astana under Kazakhstan’s national sports development strategy, is emerging as the country’s premier institution for sports education and management. The academy trains a new generation of professionals (coaches, physical education teachers, sports psychologists, and managers) focused on research-oriented, practical learning aligned with industry and government priorities. Reflecting its academic ambition, APEMS positions itself as Kazakhstan’s future-leading sports university with a goal of ranking among the top three in the country and entering the global top 300 by 2030.

APEMS stands out for its globally oriented, innovative programmes, offering double degrees and EMBA tracks in partnership with top European institutions enabling sports professionals to earn Western-recognized qualifications while working. Its national influence is clear, hosting major sports events and graduations attended by Kazakhstan’s top sports and education officials. The academy occupies modern facilities within Astana’s Expo Business Center, while practical training is conducted on premier sports venues across the city, including Astana Arena, Barys Arena, the Ushkempir Combat Sports Palace, Alau Ice Palace, and the Saryarka Velodrome.
